Classic
Classic ARDF is typically held in forests and natural terrain. Competitors search for a set number of hidden
transmitters (foxes) spread over a large area. Courses emphasize route choice, endurance, and navigation
accuracy. Each fox transmits in sequence, allowing athletes to take bearings and plan an efficient order to
visit them before returning to the finish.
Sprint
Sprint ARDF uses a compact arena with short legs between transmitters to test agility and quick decision
making. With shorter transmit cycles, rapid signal identification and precise navigation are crucial. Sprint
events are spectator-friendly and ideal for introducing new participants to ARDF.
FoxOring
FoxOring combines orienteering precision with radio direction-finding. Competitors navigate to small circles
on the map, where a very low-power transmitter can be heard only when very close. Success depends on accurate
map reading, fine navigation, and careful listening to pinpoint the fox location.
